Covering 14 states and boasting 464,500′ elevation gain and loss, a typical through-hiker will take about 5 – 7 months to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. After you register, you will receive an activation email. Think of this as your check-in at the Registration Tent before you head to the Start Line. You can use any app or device to track your run. You can submit results by connecting directly to your Strava, or manually entering your activities! Activities will start counting towards your challenge from the date you activate the challenge.

Absolutely not! This is your race and you get to complete it at your pace. When you submit results, you will be able to select what type of activity you used to complete the distance.
